Chris Johnson with the Cincinnati Beacon recently took his camera to cover a right-winged political forum to see what they're talking about in the early stages of the post-healthcare era. What he didn't expect was for the campaign of Republican Josh Mandel, candidate for Ohio treasurer, to block video cameras while Mandel touted the importance of transparency!

According to her public Facebook page, Anne Marie Harpen is a conservative Republican and a Catholic. She uploaded this photo to the Cincinnati Tea Party Facebook page. The picture features two white people, a man and a woman, holding a sign: "Obama Is Commie Scum." The sign continues to reference two web pages: natall.com and natallnews.com, both of which are pages for the National Alliance.

Along with the familiar racist material in the "Whistleblower" newsletter, last week author Jim Schifrin posted a limerick welcoming the death of President Obama. This comes about a month after the US Secret Service was made aware of multiple assassination jokes originating from Schifrin's publication.

So the big news is that John McCain picked Sara Palin as his VP running-mate, with the obvious issue being Palin’s gender. That’s why I found McCain’s campaign slogan so interesting. I saw several television shots of the duo in front of a McCain-Palin graphic that says "Country First." It reminded me immediately of the phrase "Country Matters," which comes right out of Hamlet. So for all you Shakespeare lovers out there—and even for those less familiar with The Bard—let’s take a tour of Hamlet and the world of Elizabethan sex jokes.

John McCain came to Cincinnati this week to court the black vote at the national NAACP convention. McCain has a miserable record with the NAACP, receiving multiple grades of "F" from the organization in prior years. Meanwhile, the McCain campaign has just named Hamilton County prosecutor Joe Deters as its local chair, a move which has already caused Ohio Democratic State Chair Chris Redfern to issue a denunciation.
